Students must have the necessary skills to be successful during their time in the Oskaloosa Schools, but we MUST provide them the foundation they will need in college or in a profession. It is simple - if students have literacy skills, they have the opportunity to be successful in all content areas. It is the goal, then, to provide Quality Core Instruction to all Elementary students. Literacy is looked at differently - teachers are being more intentional as they teach the Grade Level Benchmarks. If students are struggling, the supports are in place to assist that student. We also need to challenge students who are talented writers and readers. This site provides not just the teacher with the expectations of the Workshop Model of Literacy instruction, but it contains tools and resources parents might use at home.
